Reuven Barak

Dr Barak studied Medicine at the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School, class of 1982. After graduation he did his Internship and Residency in General and Pediatric Surgery in the Rabin Medical Center and Sneider Pediatric Medical Center Petah Tiqwa, Israel. He was a practicing surgeon for ten years but on 1991 started a three year academic course in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Bar-Ilan University School of Health Science and the Assaf Harofe Medical Center. Upon completion of the studies specialized under the personal tutoring and patronage of Dr. Qian Chu Yi from the Guang-An-Men Hospital in Beijing and later travelled to China for a Fellowship in the Guang-An-Men Hospital and the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specializing in Gynecology and fertility problems under Prof. Li Guang- Rong. In 1995 specialized in Pediatric Chinese Medicine at the “Central Bath Osteopathy & Complementary Health Care Center” (UK) under Dr Julian Scott and Teresa Barlow, authors of the textbooks ‘Acupuncture in the Treatment of Children’, and of ‘Natural Medicine for Children’ and ‘Natural Medicine for Women’.
Since 1992 has been attending the intensive biannual course run by Mme. Elizabeth Rochat deLaVallee, of the European School of Acupuncture and Institut Ricci, Paris, France. In addition to Chinese Medicine has been attending on an annual basis studies in other forms of Oriental Traditional Medicine and healing processes in India, Nepal, Thailand and other premises. In 1996-1997 completed studies in Pharmacotherapeutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
Dr Barak is one of the founding fathers of the Israeli Association for Traditional Chinese Medicine He was Deputy Chairman and academic secretary of the Medical Society of Acupuncture of the Israel Medical Association (1996-1998) and one of the experts invited by the Kneset (the Israeli Parliament) to write the “Law of Acupuncture” which arranges legal duties and rules for the practice of the specialty.
Has appeared on more than 200 TV shows and Radio programs and in a 2012 poll was chosen as one of the 10 most influential personalities in Chinese Medicine in Israel by his fellow practitioners.
He runs a Chinese Medicine private clinic in Tel Aviv specializing in Fertility, Gynecology and Children, with emphasis on Emotional/mental disturbances
Since 1992 has been teaching Traditional Chinese Medicine in various institutions, including the Bar-Ilan University, The Hebrew University School of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Medicine, where he founded, directed and was senior lecturer of the Chinese Medicine Course.
In 2005 published, together with his life companion, Anat Zahor, a Yoga and Meditation Teacher, the book “Mapa Guide to Healthy Living”, which deals with healthy way of life and natural solutions to many ailments.
